Cookie Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites function, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site owner about how the site is being used.
This policy explains what cookies we use on progressinhealth.co.uk, why we use them, and your choices regarding them.
2. Cookies we use
We keep our cookie use minimal. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party marketing cookies of any kind.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core features such as staying signed in. No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies under UK PECR.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| next-auth.session-token | Keeps you signed in to your account. Without this cookie you would need to sign in on every page. | Strictly necessary | 30 days |
| next-auth.csrf-token | Protects sign-in and sign-out actions against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| next-auth.callback-url | Stores the URL to redirect you to after a successful sign-in. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| pih-theme | Remembers your light or dark mode preference so it is applied on your next visit. | Functional | 1 year |
Analytics cookies
We do not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce them in the future we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party content (social media widgets, advertising networks, etc.) that would set cookies on your device without your knowledge. Where a course module embeds a YouTube video, YouTube may set its own cookies subject to Google's privacy policy. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where possible to minimise this.
3. How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. The links below go to the relevant help pages for common browsers:
Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies (particularly the session cookie) will prevent you from signing in to your account and accessing course content.
4. Cookies and UK law
Our cookie use is governed by the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Strictly necessary and functional cookies do not require consent under PECR. We will seek your consent before setting any cookies that are not strictly necessary.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we make changes to our cookie use. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email.
6. Contact
